I was recently alerted to a project taking place that incorporated elements of mainstream business (restaurants, actually) as well as public health. My dear friend Jill Foster of the Women Grow Business blog, alerted me to what UNICEF has begun to put together with local businesses across the United States in lieu of World Water Week – occurring between March 22 – March 28.
During that week, fine dining establishments across America will be implementing a system where you give $1 dollar or more for the thing that you usually get for free: tap water. All funds raised would support UNICEF’s efforts to bring clean and accessible water to millions of children around the world. How you say? Well according to UNICEF, for each dollar raised it will allow a child to have access to clean drinking water for 40 days.
Check out this video explaining more of the campaign, which has been growing in support since its 2007 debut:
Also, check out the interview that Jill did with Sibyl Edwards, a digital consultant for UNICEF – where she talks about the TAP Project.

Andre — Thx for being a great teacher to me (and others!) about public health, tech (and for investing time to talk about TAP).
