I am getting some serious happiness vibes from what the APHA has been doing lately – from their recent risk communication roundtable to promotions for National Public Health Week. Just when I think I can’t get anymore proud of my field, the Generation Public Health site goes live with information about public health and even a video (embeddable!) explaining its importance.
Check out the video:
Public Health is:
local clinics • healthy mothers and healthy babies • breastfeeding • vaccinations • clean, fluoridated water • car seats • seatbelts • traffic laws • prepared communities • clean air • mental health services • school nutrition programs • tobacco-free environments • safe workplaces • green communities • medical research • sex education • jogging trails and bike paths • safe and clean places to play • sidewalks • elderly services • city planning • healthy homes
Public health is: the promotion of good health and the prevention of disease.
