GOOD Magazine Opens the Faucet of Awareness

by Andre Blackman on March 27, 2009

Recently, I wrote about UNICEF’s innovative TAP project for World Water Week – which is occurring this week. On a number of levels, this sort of community groundswell of action translates into big help for those less fortunate and I’m all about that.

GOOD magazine (going to get a subscription soon) just created some brilliant videos to spread the word about the importance of having safe drinking water for the masses. I love the way the facts and visual illustrations bring the messages home in the first video. The ones after are creative uses of classic scenes from movies/commercials we know.

“Psycho”

“Cool Hand Luke”

“Crocodile Mile”

Check out a few others ways you can you get involved in this movement and continue spreading awareness:

  • Join the Facebook page “Safe & Healthy Water For Everyone” http://is.gd/oeen (100 liters donated per member)
  • Follow the movement on Twitter to learn more about global water issues www.twitter.com/WorldH2O (100 liters donated per follower)
  • Spread the word about the importance of chlorination by following @chlorine ( = 100 liters donated per follower)
  • Tweet using the hashtags #WWD09 & #WorldWaterDay, sharing your thoughts, blog posts or any relevant retweets that you think would be helping to spread the word.

Next time you pick up that bottle of Dasani or sip from your Nalgene container, take a second to think about how great you have it…and then do something to help others enjoy the same.
