Spread the Word Sunday: ALS Awareness

by Andre on November 23, 2008

Found this video created by the ALS Society of Canada to raise awareness about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and the ALS Society’s efforts to fund research towards a cure for the disease.

Ever read the book Tuesdays with Morrie? A great read by reknowned author, Mitch Albom and it features someone suffering with ALS.

Every moment is precious and far too many people suffer from this disease. The ALS Society of Canada is making enormous progress in our efforts to treat this devastating disease.

On Friday May 8th, the ALS Society of Canada is hosting the opening night of Tuesdays with Morrie, starring Hal Linden (aka Barney Miller). I hope you don’t mind me including this on your blog… but we’d love to invite your readers to join us for this celebration of life, love and courage – and support our efforts to fight this disease.

Thank you!

Thanks stopping by Qui – you are absolutely right, every moment IS a gift. We never know what life will throw us so cherishing each moment is necessary. Sorry to hear about your friend – it caught my eye because after reading Tuesdays with Morrie, the disease has always had a soft spot in my heart.

Hi Andre – thanks for spreading the word about ALS. A friend of mine lost her father and sister to ALS within the span of three years. It was hard to stand by while she watched her sister’s life fade away – first walking, then fine motor skills, then breath. My friend and I have matching bracelets engraved with a simple and profound line: “Every moment is a gift.” I don’t know what the experience was like for her and her family, but I know that this disease is torturous for all involved.

We have a lot to be thankful for, no? Hope to see you soon.
Qui
